Prawn Toast Pizza
Ever have that craving for a food so delicious you must have it on your plate immediately? For me, that food is prawn toast - especially on those more delicate days after a night of excess. Whenever I order Chinese food, prawn toast is always my first choice. So I thought, why not try a pizza version? I gave it a go, and oh boy, it delivered! Check out the results here. Plus I might add, it's a pretty healthy alternative to the usual pizza toppings.
Ingredients
- Pizza dough balls
Prawn Toast Topping: - 1 garlic bulb
- Olive oil
- 200g raw king prawns
- 1 heaped teaspoon finely grated ginger
- 1 tablespoon light soy sauce
Garnish: - Sesame seeds
- Sesame oil
- Spring onions, finely sliced
- Hot sauce
Method
- Slice the top off the garlic bulb, place on a square of foil and drizzle with olive oil, then season with salt and pepper.
- Roast for 25-30 minutes in an oven preheated to 180°C (160°C fan or gas mark 4).
- Leave to cool, then squeeze the soft roasted garlic into a bowl.
- Blitz the king prawns, a generous teaspoon of the roasted garlic, ginger, and light soy sauce to a paste.
- Open out a pizza dough ball, and spread the prawn paste over the pizza base. Spread a thin layer to ensure it cooks through.
- Sprinkle with a generous layer of sesame seeds and a drizzle of sesame oil, then cook.
- Scatter with the spring onions, some more sesame seeds and drizzle with hot sauce.
- Slice your Prawn Toast Pizza and enjoy while its still hot and fresh.
